ASCE OTC Hall of Fame Gala Dinner

ASCE/COPRI honored the authors of nine extraordinary civil engineering papers, which have provided the industry with innovation, direction and lasting impact on the design, construction or installation of the offshore infrastructure, at the ASCE OTC Hall of Fame Gala Dinner on May 2, 2006 at the Petroleum Club in Houston. The inaugural black-tie gala dinner was held in conjunction with the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC).

The honored papers were presented at the conference 30 or more years ago yet, still today set the standard for current practices worldwide. ASCE notables including President, Dennis Martenson, P.E., BCEE and President-elect, William Marcuson, Ph.D., P.E., Executive Director, Patrick J. Natale, P.E., and COPRI President Billy Edge, Ph.D., P.E.,were all in attendance to honor not only these papers but the authors whose talent, knowledge, vision and insight inspired an industry. Professionals from throughout the offshore industry attended the event where nearly 200 people paid tribute to the authors and their respective papers. As the guests enjoyed panoramic views of downtown Houston, COPRI Past-President, Jim Dailey hosted the event. The 12 authors present accepted their awards from Pat Natale, P.E. and Dennis Martenson, P.E., BCEE.

A compilation of all nine honored papers was put together by ASCE. The publication entitled ?Offshore Technology in Civil Engineering: Hall of Fame Papers from the Early Years? edited by John S. Templeton III, was given to each guest, compliments of Gold-level sponsor J. Ray McDermott Engineering.
